Don't Ignore the Obvious

I mean no offense when I tell this, but often when I talk about race issues I am conveniently reminded by white Christians that I should not involve myself in such "carnal" issues, that as I Christian I should be above that, that as Christians we should show love and not create dissension, that we are all the same in Christ, etc, etc, etc. In other words, don't add rocking to the already rocking boat. However, I think it should be pointed out that because race is an issue in this country we cannot just pretend it doesn't just because we are Christians. Further, Christian or not, as a Black man is this racist society I am a victim and experience what most white people, Christian or otherwise will not experience. If I am being stepped on it does not make me unchristian to bring attention to this fact of even fair to question my response to it by those who have never been stepped on and even may do the stepping. Am I wrong to point out the fact that I am a victim of racism or make people aware of how it affects me, my family, or my community, or should I ignore it because I am a Christian? And lastly, how can I be an affect leader in my community if I chose ignore these issues just to appease my white counterparts or afraid of offening them? As I have said in my previous post, as a Minister one of my biggest challenges in trying to point Black young men to the cross of Christ because they see Christianity as the religion of the oppressor. I mean no offense, but try to see it from my prespective. Much respect, God Bless
