Starting my 31st Season Ministering in the NBA

I will soon be starting my 31st season as the team chaplain for the Chicago Bulls. Down through the years as I shared the gospel of Jesus Chrisit with the team I have seen all of the emotions as players have laughed, rejoiced, cried and many have come to the Lord, strengthen the Fellowship with Him or heard a word that helped them make a decision for Christ later in thier lives.

One of the greatest moments in my ministry was having to opportunity ot pray with the 1991 Championship team in The Lord's Prayer, which was viewed by 84 million people all over the world.

Here is an interesting note about hat season. Of the 12 players I had at least 8 of them attend chapel during the season at one time or another., 5 of them consistantly. We never prayed for the Lord to Bless us to win. we would pray that every man would play to beat of his ability, that they wouild be kept from injuries and temper flare-ps, and their families and safe travel. That year the Lord answred every prayer as throughout the year, they were healthy throughout the season and played to their best abilities. 

 I have come to understand that the beast thing a person can do is live a Holy clean life in front of  these young men. They call me "Rev" I want to express my appreciation to the Rev Henry Soles who is responsible for bringing me on as his assistant chaplain in 1983 as a young newly-wed minister after hearing me during a revival in Wheaton Illinois at the Dupage AME Church. Rev Soles is a true pioneer in sports ministry as he ministered to all of the sports teams in Chicago at one time or another. 

Today I am greatful for my assistant Elder Paul Riley who is a big help to me and has relived my of many of the tasks associated with being chpalian. Yes, I am a basketball fan too and am looking forward to this season. I'll be preaching and praying, and they'll be playing. THE LORD IS GOOD!!
